What is the acoustic effectiveness of the sound enclosure?
The acoustic effectiveness of Daikin’s new Sound Enclosure for its Sky Air and VRV 5 outdoor units has been validated by field trials undertaken at a residential installation in Burgundy, France, showing significant sound reductions equal to and even exceeding factory test room values.
A study in excellence
For the homeowner of a residential property in rural Burgundy at Flassy, eliminating any sound disturbance was essential. Expert specialists Alhyange Acoustique carried out tests on the installation of a Daikin Sound Enclosure, fitted to the Daikin Sky Air RZAG125N outdoor unit, to measure its acoustic performance in real life.

A series of microphones were positioned in the garden at intervals of one metre, two metres, five metres and 10 metres to capture a comprehensive range of data, before and after installation of the sound enclosure. Additionally, tests were carried out inside the house through open and closed windows to complete the analysis process.

The exercise has established unequivocally the positive effect of adding a Daikin Sound Enclosure, with a drop in sound levels at all points and an overall sound power reduction of -10 dB (A), which matches documented test values. Similarly for sound pressure at one metre around the unit, a significant reduction of -7dB(A) at the front and -14 dB(A) at the side was recorded, which not only meets but exceeds original test values.

Concludes Alhyange Acoustique:
“The measurements carried out show a significant drop in sound level that confirms the data released by the factory, which is very big advantage to assess the impact of the enclosure on its environment, facilitating future project preparation.”

Sound investment
Specifically designed for the Sky Air (RZAG-N*/RZA-D) and VRV 5 heat pumps (RXYSA*), the new Daikin Sound Enclosure significantly reduces exterior sound levels and noise transmission. Greatly extending flexibility, this allows the application of heat pumps even in very sound sensitive areas.
Factory-tested, the new Daikin Sound Enclosure comes with guaranteed performance data on its superior sound and efficiency, with minimal capacity reduction. Thanks to the available factory-data design layout and planning is fast.
Easy to install from new or to retrofit, the smooth anthracite finish of the Daikin Sound Enclosure ensures an unobtrusive appearance.
